Youth Activities

Youth involvement in prevention is essential. Coalition activities include youth at all levels including membership and as advisors. Other youth activities of the Substance Abuse Prevention Program include:

  • Dare to Be You Activities Leaders where teenagers are trained as child activies leaders for the Dare to Be You Program educating children in the 12 week program.
  • Leaders in Prevention (LIP) Project where teams of youth attend LIP training and returning to local communities to work on youth determined prevention activities with their peers.
  • Tobacco Prevention and Control Morphing Project. Youth are recruited and trained using a lap top computer, digital camera and software to train other yotuh on the impact of smoking at health fairs, in the class room, and at displays.
  • Samantha Skunk and Rollie Robin peer education programs with youth teaching younger children the importance of a healthy diet and exercise and the negative impact of tobacco use.
